Let’s face it, you’re a person who appreciates a good automatic espresso machine. You definitely detest grinding the espresso beans, you’ve yet to figure out tamping, and you really don’t like having to clean the mess you make. And you also aren’t keen on having to drink average coffee! It used to mean that to take in a cup of espresso you’d have to drive to the local coffee shop. Unless, of course, you wanted to spend your entire morning slaving over the espresso-making process. Not anymore! Nowadays you can enjoy tasty gourmet espresso without having to go through all the hassle.

So which machine is right for you? Price quite often plays a big role in the selection process. That $800 DeLonghi beauty may get you drooling, but might not be the best choice for your wallet. You may find it tough to control yourself once you see those brand new glistening espresso machines so it’s wise to determine a spending limit prior to going shopping. You will thank yourself later when you don’t get behind on your credit card payments. You just need to find the right espresso maker to match your budget. Keep in mind that the best isn’t necessarily the costliest. You might find that the basic model without all the bells and whistles may be all you need.

If your budget isn’t the determining factor then you might want to base your decision on the brewing mechanics of the various models that’s available. There are two kinds of expresso makers: steam-driven and pump-driven. Steam-driven machines tend to be more compact, and much less costly than pump-driven models. However, the intensely hot steam could possibly burn the espresso beans during the brewing process. This can result in a sub-par espresso. A pump driven espresso maker tends to use more space and may be costly. They may not be the best option for a modest countertop in a cramped apartment. They tend to produce a dark rich espresso, but can be a little bit messy to clean up.

Naturally many individuals will tend to prefer a particular brand or blend. If it seems the market has been flooded with espresso machines, it’s because it has. Saeco, Krups, Solis, Bosch, Capresso, an Rancillio are just a few notable brands from which to choose. Ask any family members if they have experience with a particular brand or model. You can also get information from consumer report magazine or online websites. Prominent name brands help ensure consistent quality, and often have great warranties. Sometimes however, smaller brands offer you more value for your money.

This is a classic case of “the ends justify the means”. There’s no point in brewing your own coffee from scratch if you don’t enjoy doing it. That’s why finding the right espresso machine will help make your life a little bit easier. You’ll have fun doing it while saving money by making it yourself. No more grinding up espresso beans, dealing with tamping, or rushing to clean up the mess before heading off to work. Just sit back and savor the taste of your delicious homemade espresso.
